About John Morris

Restoring Trust. Defending Rights.
Leading with Purpose.

My name is John Morris, and I’m running for Sheriff of Granville County to bring proven leadership, real-world experience, and community-first values to the office. I’m proud to be the conservative candidate in this race—committed to upholding the Constitution, protecting individual rights, and ensuring law enforcement works for the people.

I retired from the Durham Police Department after 30 years of dedicated service. Over the course of my career, I served in patrol, narcotics, undercover operations, and as a tactical team leader on the Selective Enforcement Team. I held leadership roles including investigator, supervisor, watch commander, and eventually division commander. I worked closely with federal agencies like the ATF, DEA, FBI, and U.S. Postal Service on joint investigations, always with a focus on public safety and accountability.

After retiring, I spent 15 years in commercial real estate and eventually became General Manager of a multi-million-dollar operation. That experience gave me a deep understanding of budgeting, personnel management, and operational efficiency—skills I intend to bring to the Sheriff’s Office to serve taxpayers responsibly.

In 2019, my family and I moved to the Grassy Creek area of Granville County, a place we’re proud to call home. Today, my children and grandchildren live here too. That gives me even more reason to step forward and protect this community.

I’m not a politician—I’m a career public servant and private-sector leader who believes in common-sense law enforcement. I will lead a Sheriff’s Office that reflects the values of the people it serves: one built on professionalism, accountability, and justice. It would be an honor to earn your trust and your vote.
